Herengracht The Herengracht is

considered to be the most important channel in the city

Keizersgracht The Emperor’s Canal

is the middle one of the three main canals in Amsterdam. It was named after Emperor Maximilian of Austria. It is 31 meters wide, the widest canal in the entire city.

Prinsengracht Prinsengracht is the

third of the three main canals of Amsterdam

Since 2009, the three main canals have been placed on the World Heritage list.

INTERESTING BUILDINGS

The 'Westerkerk' was built between 1620 and 1631 in Renaissance style by the architect Hendrick de Keyser The church has a length of 58 meters and a width of 29 meters. The building of the Westerkerk was finished and completed by his son Pieter de Keyser (1595-1676) and inaugurated on June 8, 1631.
