Actually, its a rare day. Between Facebook, Pinterest, Blog articles and client projects, we are constantly looking f or pictures which are inexpensive, if not f ree, to use. Luckily, we have come across a f ew great sites f or such purposes. As such, here are our f avorite sites f or photos: Flickr Creative Commons Photos f ound on Flickr Creative Commons are f ree to use, however the artist must be credited f or the image. This can easily be accomplished with a small watermark/credit on a corner of the image. I also credit the artist by including the title of the photo as well as the artists username when I name the f ile. This can be seen by clicking on the photo. Photos may not be resold, which limits them to use on your own blog and creative use projects. Stock.xchng Photos on stock.xchng are comparable to photos f ound on big name (paid) sites like istockphoto.com. Image sizes are very large and appear to be very prof essional. While these are royalty-f ree and f ree-to-use images, like Flickr they may not be used on projects where you will make a prof it. Also like Flickr, the photographer must be credited f or his/her work. istockphoto.com While most images on istockphoto.com will cost you money, by signing up f or their newsletter you become eligible f or their f ree weekly and monthly downloads. Regardless of what the f ree image is, I always download it just in case I have use f or it later on down the road. Inmagine.com None of inmagine.coms images are f ree, however unlike most of the other big-name paying photo sites, Inmagine has a value section where visitors can purchase photos f or $10. In case you dont know, $10 f or quality, royalty-f ree, usable images is astoundingly inexpensive. When downloading images, I sort them into f olders designating where I got them f rom. This gives me the peace of mind of knowing whether or not the image may be used on a product that will be resold, or whether I need to use it f or private, Sutton Creative Studios-only use. Do you have any other sites you like to use f or images? Please share your thoughts in the comments f ield below. ***** Kim Sutton is a f ounding partner of Sutton Creative Studios, an agency specializing in social media management, graphic design and virtual assistance.
