MAGAZINES SIMILAR TO MINE

My Music Magazine is a fun, modern pop magazine that appeals to mainly a teenage female audience that have an interest in fashion and pop music.

Magazines that are similar to my magazine ‘BOUNCE’ are:

- We Love Pop Magazine

- Top Of The Pops

These magazines also are aimed at teenage, females that are interested in pop. I know this from the house style, colours and contents of the magazines. They are bright colours which are mainly traditional ‘girl’ colours. The content involves big named artists and band and the gossip surrounding them. Also the fashion and looks of people staring in the magazines are similar.

INSTITUTESTop of the Pops – The institute that made this magazine is called Immediate Media Company. They do lots of BBC magazines and children magazines so creating a pop magazine is actually quite of place so even though they create this pop magazine. I don’t feel that it represents my music magazine. Also I believe this magazine is too ‘girly’ which may appeal to younger girls, a magazine that their parents would buy them.

We Love Pop – The institute that made this magazine is Egmont. They mainly create children and teenage magazines. They focus on these types of magazines and create them very well and are well known. So therefore I feel this is the kind of institute that my magazine would fit best with.

INSTITUTE THAT SUITS ‘BOUNCE’

I feel ‘Egmont’ is that institute that represents my magazine best as they focus in on making magazines that appeal to children and teenage audiences. The house styles of bright colours, sharp modern looks definitely link into what I have been trying to achieve with my magazine. As you can see from the image to the right, the “We Love Pop” magazine staring Olly Murs, the style and layout is very similar to ‘BOUNCE’. It has a consistent colour scheme appealing to a female teenage audience. It has lots of gossip based cover lines and the main story is about a pop artist that my target audience would appeal to. This makes it a perfect institute for my magazine.
