RE-EDITING MY FRONT COVER…

Page 2: Digipack final outcome powerpoint re editing

I have chosen a new image to use for my digi pack, I like this image due to the shadows that are created through the artificial lighting that I used in the studio. The natural darkness of the image can also be altered by the effects in photo shop, which will make the font stand out from the black background, making it clear for the audience to read. The expression on the artists face also connotes the sense of insanity and madness as he is creating direct contact with the camera and effectively the audience.

On Photoshop I have changed the way the main image appears to the audience, by adjusting the brightness and contrast, I have now created a bolder image of the artist, increasing the shadows will ultimately make the front cover of the CD look more sinister and act as more of a focal point for the audience, as they will be drawn to the bold image of the artist. The dark and light contrast of the artist face also suggests the fact that the artist has a hidden identity.

Dealing with the vibrancy of an image is a vital part of the editing process. I have increased the vibrancy to make the image stand out and attract the eye of the audience. The bolder the contrast between colours are the more likely my target audience will be drawn to the album cover. By increasing the vibrancy this will also make the artists profile stand out form the dark background, potentially connoting the importance of the character to the audience.

In regards to font, I have changed my idea of using psychedelic 70’s font, to using a more simplistic font type. As you can see for my music video I used a very simplistic font type, I feel that by using this on my front cover and digi pack this will ultimately create more continuity between all of the products that I have produced. This is a branding technique used by other artists and musicians, as their audience’s are able to recognise the connection between all forms of advertisement. Therefore the connection between the music video and the branding products creates more of a professional and accessible touch to the over all product.

I have decided that I would like to adjust the title of the album, so the front cover appeals more to my target audience. I have duplicated the layer of the text “sanity of a different kind’, and positioned the copied layer to the side of the original layer. As a result I have created an effect which contributes to the theme of madness and the persona of my artist.

I am now going to be creating a similar effect with the main image of my front cover, connoting a sense of madness and insanity , relating to the context of the album. Firstly I have created the first copy of the original image and changed the opacity to around 30 to 40 per cent. This effects works well with the font and creates a sense of synchronicity.

By changing the hue and saturation of the copied layer this helps to add to the star image of the artist, portraying connotations of insanity and strangeness, which is portrayed in the music video. By changing the colour I feel that this gives the front cover more interesting and eye catching.

I have created another copy of the original layer, to add to the insane persona of the artist. I have adjusted the hue and saturation of the images to manage colour and lighting, to give a professional look to my front cover. I also believe that the font type that I have used works well with the image. The front cover appears to be simple however effective.

INSPIRATION FOR BACK COVER

Page 15: Digipack final outcome powerpoint re editing

DESIGNING THE BACK COVER I am now going to creating the back cover of my CD. To do so I have made a square measurement for the foundations of my cd back cover.
