HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM
PRESENTED BY :
ABHIKALP KULSHRESTHAGET
INDRODUCTION
Steering: The act of Guiding or Showing the way
Steering Mechanism: A mechanism by which something is steered.(Especially motor vehicle)
FUNCTIONS OF STEERING SYSTEMS• It helps in swinging the wheels to the left or right.
• It converts the rotary movement of the steering wheel into an angular turn of the front wheels.
• It multiplies the effort of the driver by leverage in order to make it fairly easy to turn the wheels.

BASIC STEERING SYSTEM
PINION GEAR :- Rotated by the steering wheel and steering shaft, it’s teeth mesh with the teeth on the rack.RACK :- Long steel bar with the teeth along one section, slides sideways as the pinion gear turns.TIE RODS :- Connects the rack with the steering Knuckle.
POWER STEERING SYSTEMPower Steering is a system for steering which uses power from the engine so that it is easier for the driver to steer the vehicle.HYDRAULIC POWER STEERINGMost power steering systems work by using a hydraulic system to steer the vehicle's wheels. The hydraulic pressure typically comes from a generator or rotary vane pump driven by the vehicle's engine.COMPONENTS OF HPS: Hydraulic Control Valve Pinion Gear Hydraulic Pressure/Return Lines Hydraulic Piston Rack Housing
WORKING OF HPS
WORKING OF HPS
ADVANTAGES OF HPS• Absorbs road shocks• Minimum efforts• Greater safety • Controllability under critical situations• Oil output directly proportional to the steering speed
