The first thing you should do when you have a flat tire is find somewhere to pull over that’s flat and away from traffic. This is for your safety, as the ground needs to be flat to jack up your car without it falling.

Then, you should take off the hubcap on your tire and use the lug wrench to loosen the lugnuts. Don’t take the nuts off yet!

The next step is to check your owner’s manual to find out where you should place the car jack. It should be on a sturdy part of the frame that will hold well!

Once you have the jack in place you can jack up the car until the flat tire is elevated about 6 inches off the ground. This is when you can finally take out lugnuts and take off the car tire.

Lastly, you’re going to place the spare tire on the car and put the lugnuts back in to hold it! Make sure the lugnuts are very tight, so the spare tire doesn’t come off while driving!
