Christmas Cake.A Christmas cake may be light or dark, crumbly-moist to sticky-`wet, spongy to heavy, leavened or unleavened, shaped round, square or oblong as whole cakes,

If a Christmas cake is covered in icing, it is quite common for it to be decorated - models of houses, of fir trees or of Santa Claus may be in the array of decorations. You need to begin this cake the night

before you want to bake it. All you do is weigh out the dried fruit and mixed peel, place it in a mixing bowl and mix in the brandy as evenly and thoroughly as possible. Cover the bowl with a clean tea cloth and leave the fruit aside to absorb the brandy for 12 hours. Next day pre-heat the oven to gas mark 1, 275°F (140°C).

Christmas DecorationsThe traditional Christmas decorations colours are red and green. The green represents the continuance of life through the winter and the Christian belief in eternal life through Jesus. The red represents the blood that Jesus shed at his Crucifixion.

Most people put there Christmas decorations up around a fortnight before Christmas Eve. In the weeks leading up to Christmas , people hang the decorations up, which are usually made out of coloured paper or foil. Christmas decorations were invented in the Victorian times by a man named Saint Boniface.

The practice of putting up special decorations at Christmas has a long history. From pre-Christian times, people in the Roman Empire brought branches from evergreen plants indoors in the winter. Decorating with greenery was also part of Jewish tradition : "Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves the foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days. "

Everyone is given an orange and children are often given special packs of sweets, a candle and a ribbon.

While at the service you are told slowly and patently How to decorate your orange.

This is what the decoration represents.an orange representing the world; a red ribbon around it representing the blood of Jesus; dolly mixtures, dried fruits or sweets skewered on cocktail sticks pushed into the orange, representing the fruits of the earth and the four seasons a lit candle pushed into the centre of the orange, representing Jesus Christ.

RudolphRudolph has a red nose and is the

leader of the reindeers.Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose. And if you ever saw him, you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names. They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve Santa came to say: "Rudolph with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him as they shouted out with glee, Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, you'll go down in history!

Most people will go to church at Christmas to read about the Christmas story or go to a special Sunday school but of the time people watch a play put on by children.

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head. The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes. I love thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky,And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me Lord JesusI ask thee to stay.Close by me forever,And love my I pray.

Bless all the dear children,In thy tender care. And take them to heaven,To be with thee there.
