1. Procrastination
Leaving things until the last minute obliterates your
productivity levels and reduces the quality of work you are
submitting. Very often patterns of procrastination are linked to low self-esteem, stress and lack
of confidence.
Life Hacks: Successful people prioritize their daily tasks using task management software so that the important stuff gets finished first. They also break down big,
stressful tasks IN intervals so they are more manageable to do.
2. Multitasking
Multitasking is a productivity killer and very difficult to pull
off. Doing two or more things at once puts more demand on our brains, compared to when we do tasks one at a time, leading to higher risks of withdrawal
and exhaustion.
Life Hack: Successful people commit their undivided attention to one thing at a time.
3. Overworking
Not having a structure in place is draining and inefficient.
Working overtime and letting your work fill up your evening
arrangements are two signs that you need to re-prioritize your day and manage your
time more efficiently.
Life Hack: Successful people end their working day at a fixed time. They have two finishing times, one for a non-busty day and another for the latest time that they won’t work past.
4. Setting No Goals/Too Many Goals
Having no goals or too many goals could set you up for failure. How
do you know what success is if you have not defined the criteria
that will lead to it?
Life Hack: Successful people set smart goals that are – specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely.
5. Over Thinking Things
Do you strive for perfection? It is important to be careful not to
spend too much time on one task and its details. You may end up
spending all your work time going in circles.
Life Hack: Successful people enforce a time limit to their thinking and document the time it takes them to gather their thoughts. They turn any excessive thinking into a
next action in their overall plan.
6. Breaking Sleep Habits
According to the National Sleep Foundation, adults should be sleeping on average 7-9 hours. Anything less than that could impact productivity levels the next day. So if you don’t sleep well every night, it is time to
change the bad habit.
Life Hack: Successful people recharge daily and are sure to get enough sleep so that they have enough energy to complete the next day tasks.
7. Pessimism
A pessimist affects the productivity and positive energy
of all persons h/she associates with. While some people do it for
social conditioning purposes, others do it to fit into the culture.
Whatever is the excuse, it is important to overcome it because
your productivity will be affected.
Life Hack: Successful people avoid being pessimistic by surrounding themselves with only positive people, who could give them constructive, yet positive feedback.
