Currently, Abengoa operates and maintains five photovoltaic plants in commercial operation. The five plants together have a total installed capacity of 11,68 MW.

Technology. The PV plants have different technologies: polysilicon and monocrystalline with single or dual axis trackers, low concentration dual axis tracker and high concentration modules.

Location. In order to maximize the solar energy production, all the PV plants are located in Andalucia in a radius of 300 km.

Four plants in Seville.

One in Linares (Jaén).

How do PV plants work?

These plants have trackers with PV modules, which collect solar radiation and convert it into electricity. The group of trackers form the solar field.

These trackers are connected to one or two inverters that convert the energy from the solar field into power that can be supplied to the grid.

Each facility has its own equipment to measure the energy produced by each inverter.

Special features:

The efficiency when transforming the energy is increased by the two axis tracker and the use of flat mirrors that act as concentrators.

The flat mirrors multiply the incoming solar radiation which makes possible to obtain the same production as a PV standard plant of 1,2 MW.

The facility shares the power transformer with two Solar Thermal Electric plants of tower technology (PS10 and PS20).
