BEDROOM FURNITURE – DECORATING YOUR BEDROOM

There are so many things to think about when decorating a new bedroom (or revamping an old one). The first thing you need to think about is what theme you want to have, and with endless possibilities, whether you are a girly-girl, a sports enthusiast, or just into the classic black and white you are sure to find the perfect theme to match your desires. You may want to mix and match themes to create your own unique bedroom sanctuary. If you are not starting from scratch and are just looking to get a fresh look for your old room then you should definitely start by cleaning it out and getting rid of anything you do not want or use anymore. Maybe you want to keep some of your bedroom furniture pieces and plan a new theme around them.

Now that you have decided on a theme, the next steps are measuring the space and choosing a focal point. Knowing the exact measurements of your bedroom will determine what your size limits are for each item you are envisioning for the room. A lot of times the bed serves as the focal point for a bedroom, but sometimes it could be a chair or a dresser. It really depends on your personal preference. What do you want people to see when they first walk into you room? If you do decide to make your bed the main attraction there are many choices to make it stand out. From attractive bed frames to beautiful duvet cover sets you are sure to find something to match your flair. One creative idea to spice up the décor for your room is to adorn your walls with some tasteful artwork which can easily be achieved on any budget. Other fun things to add are a brightly colored rug or doubling a book table as a night stand.

Your bedroom is a direct reflection of who you are, so don’t be afraid to show some personality but don’t get too crazy, it still needs to be fashionable, polished, and presentable. It is best to keep the paint color neutral and splash the bright colors in other places like your bedspread, pillows, and maybe a lamp shade. Lighting is key to bringing the whole feel of the room together. Soft overhead lighting is a perfect way to accomplish a warm comfortable feel. If you are the type of person who needs the room to be very dark when you sleep then ideally you should lean towards dark-colored curtains or blinds for your windows. Your bedroom should act as your retreat. You can create that ambiance with luxurious pillows, bedding, drapery, and it never hurts to add a comfy chair to the corner of the room.
