Business communication is the process by which
people within the business environment interact
through the use of messages. This may be done both
verbal and non-verbal.

Four basic goals of business communication:
Receiver understanding
Receiver response
Favourable relationship
Organizational goodwill
Oral - An oral communication can be formal or informal.
Formal business communication - meetings, interviews, group discussion, speeches etc.
Informal business communication - sometimes refer to as Grapevine.
Written - Written means of business communication includes -agenda, reports, manuals , memos, emails etc.

• Is essential for the effective operation of the business

The writing process is a cycle of tasks.
The cycle is the same for writing a memo, or script for 30 second commercial.
The writing process is done in stages.

Pre-writing Stage:
In the pre-writing stage the writer plan their message.
The writer needs to first conduct research, gather data or collect information needed to write the message before putting thoughts or idea on paper.
This will allow the writer to begin writing with all the facts in hands.

The writer must have an objective so that he can determine the main idea before start writing.
For many business messages, no research is necessary because the writer often know what information they need for everyday correspondence.

In order for writing of business messages to be focused and effective, the writer should considered the following questions before beginning to write:
1. Purpose: What is my purpose or objective for writing?
2. Audience: Who is my audience, and what response do Iwant?
3. Length: How long should the message be?
4. Medium: What form (letter, memo, email etc.) is best for the message?
