Different Types of Locks for Your Home

Those who are homemakers are forever on the lookout for better and more improved security measures. One of the most basic, but important, security measures is a right and proper locking mechanism. In this article we go over some of the types of locks in order to help you form a better understanding of the locking system that can be used in your home. 1. The Entry Lockset: This is the door locking system that can be worked both from the inside as well as the outside. All one needs to do is press a little button on the knob and the door can be unlocked. This is one of the most commonly used locks but it is important to keep in mind that the security benefits of such a system are only moderate. 2. The Deadbolt: Again, one very common method of locking; the deadbolt is usually installed as an extra security measure. The bolt has to be operated manually and there are no springs or catches with which it can be worked. This is one of the most secure locking mechanisms as the locks are fitted according to the size of the door only. Most commonly used in entrances and back doors, this is a definite must have when it comes to building a house. 3. Privacy Lock: For those who are looking for privacy more than security this is perfect as it can be operated only from the inside with no key slot on the outside. Commonly found in bedrooms and such, this is a good lock to install if one is living with a small family. There are a number of things that one must decide on before thinking of the types of locks to be installed in their home. Since there are various kinds of locks each serving a specific function one should be absolutely clear in their understanding of personal priorities and needs. All in all, locks hold a primal importance in our lives and should be installed in a careful and competent manner by professional locksmiths like those over at Mesa Locksmith (http://www.mesalocksmith.net).
