Fighting Games - The Virtual Fight
Gone are the days when adventures and challenges were ascribed to outdoor games. Times have changed, technology has advanced and life has got busier. The computer and Internet seem to be the most sought-after solution for gaming needs. Fighting games have become popular in the world of the Internet as they are more involving and challenging for people of all age groups. No wonder, online games are sought dynamically by kids, teenagers and adults alike. They convey the same universal tale, i.e. a tournament to decide the strongest fighter or a hero's pursuit to stop evil forces. The player's goal is to strike the opponent. There are several rounds in each game and the player who wins majority of the rounds is declared the winner.
Warrior, a game arcade of 1979, was the first known fighting game. Players use certain tactics aided by special moves to win the game. They have to be well-versed with using elaborate button combinations for the various moves, such as kicks, punches, strikes, and so on. They can also choose from several characters based on their fighting styles and moves.
Fighting games come under the category of action games. They are demanding, addictive, time-consuming and energy-draining, due to which there are debates for and against these computer games. The positive aspect is that they allow teenagers to express their energy and dismantle their tensions. Sometimes, teenagers need a vent to express their violence and video games may be a better idea than beating up someone in real life. Another positive aspect is that these games help the player develop useful skills. For instance, martial art practitioners can keenly watch certain moves and apply them in their practice. When it comes to the mental aspect, players can learn strategic thinking and become more ambitious and determined in their life.
The negative aspect of fighting games is that players might misunderstand its purpose. While entertainment is the key objective of gaming, spending too much of time in a violent atmosphere, despite it being virtual, can make the person violent.
Such games may confuse the mind of the players, causing them to express their confusion even in the real world. Many spend hours playing these games without even knowing the amount of time that has gone by. However, playing fighting games depends on one's priorities and it is an interesting entertainment, provided the player has adequate self-control to balance with other activities.
Graphics, sound effects, visual effects and themes are some of the aspects that make up the latest games. There are single, double and multiple player games that are team-based. Today, three-dimensional fighting games allow the payer to move around the opponent instead of just going back and forth.
