National Endowment for Financial Education Program Title & Description: The NEFE High School Financial Planning Program is a six unit money management curriculum which addresses the subject areas most critical to the needs of typical high school students. Units cover the subjects of the financial planning process, careers and earning power, budgeting, credit, saving and investing and insurance. Baked into each of these chapters are many other learning modules on related subjects. This is a highly interactive curriculum designed to stimulate classroom discussion and encourage students to take positive action in their financial lives. The NEFE HSFPP is probably the largest program of its kind and has existed longer than most other programs. In its twenty-one years of existence, over 4,000,000 student guides have been sent into 50,000 classrooms all across the United States and on military bases around the world. Versions of the NEFE HSFPP have been created for use in Canada and Australia. Resources Provided (i.e. manuals, software, etc.) All schools who order our materials receive 400-page instructor’s manuals for each instructor and 120-page student guides for each student who takes the program. Student Guides are meant to be written in, so students can keep the guides when the course is completed. In addition to the print materials, teachers and students have access to additional resources at the NEFE HSFPP Web Portal (http://www.nefe.org/hsfppportal/includes/main/home.asp?portal=2 ) and eight online games called Success Street Sweep (http://www.nefe.org/hsfppportal/includes/main/link/ ) were designed specifically for our curriculum.
