A Hands-on Workshop on Growth Strategies
for Startups and Small Enterprises
Introduction
Just like in nature, as in the world of business, one that
does not grow decays. Starting a firm is one thing, but
securing growth is quite another, and failure to scale is
often cited as the single most important reason why
startups perish. Growth calls for specific skills and
capabilities beyond sheer enthusiasm and good luck.
Research suggests that firms which rely more on a
scientific way of growth are far more successful than
those relying on commonsense.
The intent of the session is to introduce the audience to
a systematic way of thinking about growth, laden with
the tools, techniques and frameworks of strategic
management. Enterprises at any stage of their
development, more so in the infancy stages, need to
get a few important things right and then the
management takes over. The session deals with those
‘few right things’.
