Kampot and Sihanoukville Beach Holiday

Tour Overview: In this trip, you have an opportunity to visit the most beautiful and special travel sites from Phnom Penh to Sihanouk Ville. First, you start your trip with Tonle Bati with Ta Prohm temple in the 13th Century. Then we drive to Kep and Kampot to enjoy the wild beach there. The last destination is Sihanouk Ville – one of the most popular beach in Asia with blue water, moderate waves and excellent infrastructure of hotels and resorts with international services. That is a trip combining the mountain, jungle and the sea. GAT travel will organize this tirp for you.

Tour itinerary: Day 1: Phnom Penh – Tonle Bati - Takeo – Phnom Da – Kampot – Kep (L)

We depart from Phnom Penh for Kampot. En route, stop at Tonle Bati and visit Ta Prohm temple (12th – 13th Century) and Yeay Peau temple (12th century). Visit the Prasat Neang Khmao, the temple of the Black Virgin (10th century). You visit a silk weaving village before proceeding to Takeo. Lunch is at local restaurant and take a boat from Takeo to Phnom Da (please note that the speedboat does not have a cover or any shade – hat and sun tan cream essential). You visit Phnom Da temple, a pre-Angkorian laterite tower (6th Century) and Asram Maharoseil (6th Century), an Indian-style sandstone temple constructed in a style unlike any other temple in Cambodia (the climb up is easy as this particular Phnom ‘hill’ is not very high. The path up to the temple is steep, over some big rocks). Return to Takeo by boat and continue to Kep, formerly known as Kep-sur-Mer. This beautiful coastal area was once the favorite holiday spot for Cambodia’s French-influenced elite. Proceed to Kampot and check-in at hotel. You overnight in hotel in Kampot.

Day 2: Kampot - Bokor National Park – Kompong Som (Sihanouk Ville) (B, L)

Breakfast is at the hotel, then we drive to Bokor National Park; a pleasant 30 minute forest walk will take you to the Popokvil Waterfalls. To access it is difficult during the wet season and there may be no water in the dry season - however, the walk is pleasant at any time! You visit the long abandoned hill station of Bokor Mountain: discovering the ruins of the former Royal Residence, the church, the casino hotel and (weather permitting) enjoying an amazing view of the southern coast. Picnic lunch provide at the site. We drive back down the mountain and continue along the coast and the Damrei (Elephant) Mountains to Kompong Som (Sihanoukville). You check in at hotel (vehicle and guide return to Phnom Penh). You stay overnight at hotel Sihanouk Ville.

Day 3: Leisure time in Sihanoukville (B)

Breakfast is at hotel and you spend the whole day at leisure. You stay overnight at hotel Sihanoukville.

Day 4: Sihanoukville – Phnom Penh (B)

You have breakfast at hotel and free at leisure to enjoy the beach. In the afternoon, you return to Phnom Penh with private car without guide. Tour ends.

Trip Notes: What to bring: Sun glasses, sun cream, hat or cap and insect repellent. To go trekking in the National Park, you had better take trekking boots.
