• Began in Britain

• Started in early 1800s and lasted to the late 1900s

•Western Europe, North America, Japan, and eventually the world took part in it.

URBANIZATION

• The Cottage Industry is a business or manufacturing activity carried on in a person's home.

• There was a migration of people from rural to urban during the Industrial Revolution.

• Living in cities permitted the people to take advantage of the opportunities of proximity, diversity, and marketplace competition.

AGRICULTURAL REVOLUTION

• Crop rotation is the practice of growing a series of dissimilar types of crops in the same area in sequential seasons.

• The Agriculture Revolution began the producing of a larger amount of food. This intern led to a growth in population.

TEXTILES

• Textiles are a type of cloth or woven fabric.

• Cotton Gin was invented by Eli Whitney.

• Cotton Gin, Flying shuttle, and Carding Machine helped the industry boom.

• Textile Industries was the first commodity.

STEAM ENGINE

• Invented by Thomas Newcomen.

• Improved by James Watt.

• Invented in 1712.

• It was the first practical device to harness the power of steam to produce mechanical work

BESSEMER PROCESS

• A steelmaking process, in which carbon, silicon, and other impurities are removed from molten pig-iron by oxidation in a blast of air in a special tilting retort.

• Invented by Henry Bessemer

• It was important because before the Bessemer process, Britain had no practical method of reducing the carbon content of pig iron.

PASTEURIZATION

• To subject milk, wine, or other products to a process of partial sterilization involving heat treatment or irradiation, thus making the product safe for a persons consumption and improving its keeping quality.

• Louis Pasteur was a French Chemist who invented a way to stop milk and wine from making people sick through pasteurization.

• Some things he invented were the lightbulb, phonograph, and the radio.

• He had 1093 patients.

• William Wordsworth and Mary Shelly were two authors during the time.

• It’s reaction to the Industrial Revolution was very hostile.
