Introduction
Microsoft Teams is a chat-based productivity tool that allows teams to quickly
connect with another through 1:1 chats, group interactions, easier sharing of
files and anytime, anywhere access from different devices. Additionally, the
ease of customisation of the tool as per each team’s requirement makes it go-
to tool for enhancing productivity within the workplace in a never ever before
manner.
This short document would give you a brief peek into the possibilities that
exist with Microsoft Teams.

ACTIVITY
This option allows you to see the recent activities that have
happened across different channels in various teams.
These activities can be viewed as per Feed, Team Activity and My
Activity.
The Feed can be further viewed as
per Mentions, Replies, Likes and
Follows.
The Mentions are basically the
messages where a user has been
tagged. The Replies are those messages where any Team member has
replied in a conversation where user is the part
of. The Likes are those messages which have
been liked by different Team members. The
follows are the messages which are present in
the channels followed by the user.

CHAT
This option allows you to
engage in 1:1 chats with
your team members and
co-workers. You can also start conversations with 2 or more persons
in this chat window and name this conversation as per your wish.
Each individual chat shows Conversation, Files, OneNote,
Organization and Activity tab.
Conversation tab simply displays the chat between the 2 users. Files
shows all the files shared between these 2 users but, this does not
include the files shared between these 2 users across different
Teams. OneNote shows the shared Notebook between these 2 users
however, this is the newly created notebook and not any previously created
notebook. Activity shows the recent activity of the user with whom chat is
going on. This activity includes all the file sharing, conversations and more
across different teams where both the users are team members.
TEAMS
This option allows team members to chat productively and in a
structured manner.
Additionally, all the
discussions happen across
channels where General
channel is a default channel
in each team.
New channels as per team’s requirements can be easily created
which facilitate bring structure to team conversations. Each newly
created channel has by default 3 tabs (Conversation, Files and
OneNote). Additional tabs can be easily
added which enhance information access
and viewability.

There are several options that can be used while adding the tab such as Word
document, Excel sheets, Sharepoint sites, Planner and many more.
The channels allow to share the
files as per channel context and
keep them for future reference as
well. This allows more organised
information segregation and easier
information access whenever
needed.
You can also mark the frequently
accessed channels as favourite
which allows quicker access to
information and less chaotic Teams
space.
The team members can also chat on the shared files easily which adds to the
productivity of the workplace. Each channel has its own email address which
helps in engaging even with the external users.
MEETINGS
This option allows you to manage your meetings (Skype for Business
meetings or Offline appointments) easily. All the relevant
information like associated Skype for Business meeting link or emails
regarding offline appointments can be easily viewed.
The meetings can also be easily scheduled through this option by
clicking on Schedule a meeting.

FILES
This option allows you to access all your files from Microsoft Teams,
OneDrive for Business and Downloads folder. You can also easily
look for your recently accessed files from this option.
