Who We AreGreat universities do not happen by accident. They exist as a result of careful planning and decision making. Effective decision making does not result from anecdote or conjecture. It results from solid evidence. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) supports Ball State Universitys Centennial Commitment vision, priorities, and initiatives by facilitating the collection, analysis, and interpretation of institutional data and the provision of information to support planning and decision making. OIE offers a broad array of decision support services to all units of the University and to external bodies as necessary.

Who We AreOur vision is to be recognized within the Ball State community as the destination of first resort for decision support information and to be recognized among our professional peers as among the finest such offices in the nation. Our core values include service, professionalism, and innovation.

Who We AreBall State created the Office of Academic Assessment in 1987, the Office of Institutional Research in 1990, and combined these operations into the Office of Academic Assessment and Institutional Research in 1998. Staffing changes and the need for a more comprehensive set of services led to the office being reorganized and renamed the Office of Institutional Effectiveness in 2011-2012.
