WHAT WE ARE

Pink Rides is a community bike program for students at the Rhode Island School of Design. It is a project under the umbrella of Bike Town. VBike Town is a student run organization which serves as a forum for cyclists on and around the RISD campus. It supports projects to make RISD and Providence more bike friendly. It also organizes events for the cycling community such as rides, races and workshops.

Pink Rides is a free service. Its goal is to extend the joys of cycling to those who do not have access. It allows a broader range of motion to students who do not own bikes, thus allowing students to get out of their "bubble" with greater ease. It also provides a means of green transportation.

Currently Pink Rides is in its BETA stage. Pilot bikes and advertisement will be on campus before Nov. 20. We hope to gather information on a small scale before going big with the concept. By spring semester we hope to scale up to serve the community with 20 bikes and continue up-scaling from there.

WHAT WE NEED

-

for the pilot but also the full scale program. We are looking for donations from organizations who are involved or interested in the cycling community in Providence. Our biggest current need is bike locks. Quality locks are far out of our budget, however, cheap locks are a huge risk as theft could quickly end our endeavors. We are also in need of bicycles in working or near working condition. We also need parts to repair several bikes we currently own.

Please consider these ways to donate:+Materials: bikes, parts, locks etc.+Discount: wholesale prices on materials+Money

HOW IT WORKS

The system for the pilot program is simple. Students who want to rent a bike go to the lobby of 15 West (RISD

The student is given a key. The bikes will be stored on the racks outside 15 West. The student will take the bike
