ConsultingFhatani Consulting Group is a firm of consulting engineers specializing in civil and structural engineering and project management.  The group was recently formed by merger of three established consulting engineering firms namely Slabbert and Associates, B. T. Mongwe and Associates and BSM Baker.

The principals of the aforementioned firms being Mike Slabbert, Timothy Mongwe, Brian McClintock and Geoff Baker are the directors of the new group trading under the legal entity of Fhatani Proprietary Limited. Each of the directors have a twenty percent shareholding in the new company - the remaining twenty percent has been allocated to Timothy Mongwe to be distributed to a yet to be identified black engineer.  The strength of the new group lies in the combined experience of the directors each having in excess of twenty years of experience in civil and structural engineering consulting and in the diversified skills from the resources that can now be combined to suit a range of projects. To further demonstrate the range of skills which can now be combined a brief summary of each of the founding firms follows:-

Mike Slabbert Consulting trading as Slabbert and Associates is a consulting engineering firm practicing in project management of engineering projects, civil and structural engineering and environmental management and control.

A client list which boasts significant listed and unlisted companies in South Africa as well as municipalities and provincial governments. Slabbert and Associates was established by Mike Slabbert, who was previously a director of SRK Consulting (Pty) LTD, in January 2000.  Areas of proficiency:

BSM Baker was established in 2001 out of the merger of Butterworth Smith McLintock and G.M. Baker and Associates.

Butterworth Smith McLintock has a long established track record originating in 1975. GM Baker and Associates was founded in 1999 by Geoff Baker, previously a National Group Director of Kantey & Templer. The Company experience includes the civil and structural engineering design of industrial infrastructure and buildings, office complexes, shopping centers, medical centers, hotels, bridges, multi-storey parking blocks, municipal Services and roads.

The practice has been placed in a number of national and local architectural competitions. Most recently the practice has won a competition initiated by the eThekwini Municipality for aHeroes Monument to be erected in the park at the intersection of Berea and Moore Roads.

The practice was placed fourth in a national competition to design the National Assembly inKimberley for the Northern Cape Province Provincial Government

 All the members have maintained links with the University of KwaZulu Natal and the Durban

Instituteof Technology and are involved on an on-going basis as part time lecturers, tutors and examiners.
