But, REALITY….. •Women make up 80% of all refugees and displaced people.

•603 million women live in countries where domestic violence is not yet considered a crime.

•According to a 2008 study by US Department of Labor, women earn 20% less of what men earns.

•40% of businesses have no women in senior management.

•In the global economy, women account for 60% of the world’s 550 million working poor, even though they make up 40% of the world’s workforce.

•In 2012, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal had the highest proportion of female suicides.

•In 2005, over 200 women were victim of acid attacks in Bangladesh, even after the introduction of serious punishments for this crime.

Domestic Restrictions:Restricted to their home and their primary role is to take care of household chores. The maximum percentage of working women can be seen as health workers, educationist, clerks or any other low paid job that are not much preferred by men because of the lack of growth opportunities and low pay-scale. Female dominant environment.After all day of work at office, no matter how tired they are, they also have to look after domestic chores.

Married Working Women:It becomes difficult for them to maintain work and household chores equilibrium because of increased responsibility. Traditionally, men are the bread earners of the house and it is not appreciable if women support the family financially or if women earn more than men.It is not possible for them to work in late hours. The majority of new mothers can’t balance between their works and their kids.

Mental Harassment:Less capable and inefficient in working as compared to men.

Gender bias creates obstacles in their recruitment. No one thinks of upgrading their skills with technological advancement which makes it easy to terminate woman’s employment and hire other persons.

Women’s issues do not occur on the priority list of most of the trade unions.

Security, Life and Dignity: With more and more cases of physical assault, theft and abuse being reported in news channels, women need to learn the art of self-defense for their security. Many organizations have employed special security services for helping their women employees to get back home at late nights. Not just working women but every girl should always be prepared to face the wrath of uncivilized men and hence must equip themselves with defense mechanism.

To face challenges, women need to be self-confident and should keep herself up to

date with the latest happenings in the world of technology.

The internet has now solved the problem of limited opportunities. So women should

keep surfing the internet to increase their knowledge.

Another most important thing is to maintain balance in work and personal life.

Also there is a need to educate men and tell them to respect other women like they

respect women in their family.

Rights and Law for Working womenThe Equal

Remuneration Act was passed in 1976,

providing for the payment of equal

remuneration to men and women workers for same or similar

nature of work. Constitution of Complaints

Committee in the Ministry of HRD For

Considering Complaints of

Sexual Harassment of Women Employees.

Pregnancy Discrimination Act

of 1978 was created so employers

cannot fire, intentionally not hire,

demote or discriminate against a

pregnant women worker.

Disciplinary or corrective action

is a process of communicating with

the employee to improve

unacceptable behavior or

performance.

CONCLUSION:Technological advancement results in retrenchment of women employees.

Women’s issues do not occur on the priority list of most of the trade unions.

Public transport system is overcrowded and men take advantage of the circumstances to physically harass women.

Colleagues offer unwanted attention which can still be shaken off if.

There have been several cases of sexual harassment recently involving even the senior women officials.

The psychological pressure of all this can easily lead to a woman quitting her job. A fundamental change is required in the attitudes of the employers, policy makers, family members and other relatives and the public at large
