AmeriCorps 101: Living Allowance
Term Minimum Half Full

Stipend $1,900 $5,771 $12,500

AmeriCorps 101: Living Allowance
• Living allowance must be paid in equal increments ($12,500/26 pay periods = $480.77 per pay period)
• Amount should not fluctuate based on the number of hours served
• Distribution of stipend checks
• Cannot be distributed if the member exits the program before his/her agreed upon completion date

AmeriCorps 101: Living Allowance
• Applicable Federal and State taxes should be withheld with the exception of Unemployment and Family Medical Leave.

AmeriCorps 101: Eligibility
• US citizen or lawful permanent resident
• 17 years of age
• High school diploma or agree to obtain a diploma or GED during term of service

AmeriCorps 101: Term of Service
• Not to exceed one calendar year
• Hours count toward Education Award not Living Allowance

AmeriCorps 101: Healthcare Coverage
• Healthcare coverage provided through Aetna to 1700 hour, full-time members (member must consistently serve full-time hours; +30 a week)
• Members on Medicare/Medicaid must enroll in healthcare coverage provided through the grant.

AmeriCorps 101: Childcare Benefits
• Childcare benefits are available to full-time members and part-time members working in a full-time capacity
• Childcare benefits must be paid to a State licensed childcare provider

AmeriCorps 101: Background Checks
• Background checks will be conducted on all members through our contracted vendor, Choicepoint, Inc.
• Members cannot be left alone with members of a vulnerable population until the background check is complete.
• You may need to conduct your own background check to abide by the regulations of your licensing agency.

AmeriCorps 101: Refill Policy
• If a member who leaves the program has completed less than 30% of his/her hours the Campus/Site Supervisor can refill the slot with the permission of the NJBLP Program Director

AmeriCorps 101: Timesheets
• No lobbying, advocacy, or voter registration drives
• No more than 20% training hours
• No more than 10% fundraising hours
• Must be submitted to the Foundation by the 15th of each month (eg. April’s Timesheet is due by May 15th)
• Fundraising and Training hours are designated on the Time Sheet
