South Carolina History

South Carolina has been involved in much of the history• One of the first 13 colonies• Fort Sumter, was part of the Civil War, on April 12, 1861

o  thousands+ died•  Antebellum, South Carolina advanced the nullification and

sesession of any other southern state•  July 1, 2000, South Carolina became the last state to

remove the Confederate Flag that was over the statehouse(was placed there in 19 62)

Columbia, is also the state capital. Columbia was the first city of South Carolina.Named after Christopher Columbus.Founded in March 26, 1786.
