A night long celebration of the Philippines 114th Independence Day kicked off in The Lido Theatre yesterday with a full house guests gathered to watch the cultural presentations prepared by the Filipino crew from Hotel, Marine and Casino Departments. This was followed by a parade around deck 7 and ended at the Grand Piazza for photo opportunities for the guests. Many regular guests onboard have lauded the effort and the preparation by the crew as they remember the same experience last year. The event was capped by a Filipino program and salo-salo (family style dining) of various Filipino food, cultural presentations, and parlor games at the Crew Mess attended and enjoyed not only by Filipino crew but also from the other crew nationalities. Cruise Activity Manager, Kervin Chu, open the event by singing the Philippine National Anthem followed by a prayer for the company and crew onboard officiated by Father Romeo Chan of St. Therese Church in Singapore. The event was hilariously hosted by Cruise Supervisor, Henrix. This is the second year that Filipino crew onboard SSV had joined together to prepare and celebrate to commemorate their Independence Day with fellow guests and crew. “Great experience, great solidarity and great food” was the feedback from the crew from all nations.
