The Restaurant Franchise Sector Continues to Grow

Each year, Americans spend over $680 billion eating out or carrying in from a wide array of restaurants – many of which are franchise locations.

Not only has the franchising industry been experiencing growth throughout the past year, but the restaurant sector specifically has been exceeding expectations and thriving.

By the end of 2014, the number of new franchise jobs is expected to surpass the total private segment employment growth by 0.3 percent – adding close to 200,000 new jobs to the market. Approximately 76,000 of these new jobs are expected to come from the quick service segment.

Quick service restaurants include limited service eating places, cafeterias, fast-food restaurants, carryout establishments etc. Not only are these types of franchise establishments one of the easiest for consumers to recognize, but this restaurant franchise model is also one of the fastest growing sales wise. The quick service restaurant sector experienced a 6.1 percent growth in 2013, according to the International Franchise Association (IFA) Franchise Business Economic

Outlook for 2014.

The pizza segment of the restaurant franchise industry is similarly flourishing. Prospective pizza industry entrepreneurs are turning to the franchise industry model for a variety of different reasons. Established business models, ability to utilize available resources and access to marketing collateral remain among the top rated advantages of investing in a pizza franchise model. Today, pizza franchises account for 60 percent of pizza sales in the U.S. – despite only encompassing 47 percent of the total amount of pizzerias.
