Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging

service that enables its users to send and read other users'

updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of

up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the

user's profile page and delivered to other users who have

subscribed to them (known as followers).

Tweet Posting a message to Twitter

Retweet (rt)* When you are reposting a message that someone already

posted. It is giving props to the author and content provided.

@ + name* The command which allows replies to be sent.

Following You choose to receive someone’s updates.

Followers People who choose to receive your updates. (You do not need

to “accept” like Facebook)

Direct Message Private message sent between two people (not shown in your

public profile)

Block Preventing someone from reading your updates

Favorites A public area to save your favorite tweets

Fail Whale Too many people are tweeting!

Hashtag* The # next to a word allows for conversations to be tracked

and grouped.

Tweetup A face-to-face gather of those who tweet

Bit.ly* Condensed URL that can be tracked.
