Original?
Dining AloneAll my own work?
Not really:
• Colours from surroundings• Mood from feelings• Paint from Paintbox• Vibe from other people
Our ideas are informed by many things
I Am Not An Artist
I ask people:
Can you draw/paint/sketch?
They say:
I Am Not An Artist.
We are all artists, never be ashamed to admit it.
Vulnerability
Vulnerability is the path to belonging, to innovation, trust
and creativity. 85% of interviewees for Brene
Brown’s research can recall a time in school that was so
shaming it forever changed how they thought of themselves as
learners – 50% of those recollections related to art and
creativity.
Divergent Thinking
1,500The number of people tested for ability to think divergently –
researchers looking for ability at genius level
Divergent Thinking
98%The percentage of people who tested at genius level for divergent
thinking – among an audience of kindergarten aged children
Divergent Thinking
32%By age 8 – 10, the percentage showing genius level divergent
thinking had fallen to 32
Divergent Thinking
10%By age 13 - 15, the percentage showing genius level divergent
thinking had fallen to 10
Divergent Thinking
2%A similar study of people aged over 25 revealed that only 2% were
able to think divergently at genius level.
We are routinely teaching creativity and collaboration out of people.
Collaboration is human, not mechanised, not standardised. It operates in the field of mixed
feelings. Get used to it!
