Despite recent increases in the number of suicides, the rate of suicide in England and Wales has
fallen by 29% since 1981This rate is the age-standardised rate, the number of
deaths is adjusted for the population size and age

Men are more at risk of dying by suicide than womenwith men representing 75% of all suicides
registered in 2015
