In 1938, Germany occupied north and west of Czechoslovakia.

Known as the Munich Agreement

In March 16, 1939, Nazi Germany occupied the rest of Czech.

VIOLATION OF THE MUNICH PACT

In 1938, Nazi Germany annexed the northwestern borders of Czechoslovakia, A.K.A Sudetenland.

A year later, under Operation Green, Nazi Germany occupied the rest of Czechoslovakia.

INVASION OF POLAND

A.K.A. the September Campaign

This marked the beginning of World War II

September 1, 1939 – October 6, 1939

Estimated 904,000 casualties in Poland

INVASION OF FRANCE

On May 12, 1940, Germany invaded France.

Germany turned it attention to Paris after Belgium fell.

If Paris falls, France falls.

BATTLE OF BRITAIN

Operation Sea Lion, Nazi Germany invaded Britain.

Raids of bombings became known as the Battle of Britain.

Germany attacked Britain with 1,500 per day!

PEARL HARBOR

On December 7, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy attacked the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor.

This led U.S. to join the World War.

2,403 soldiers were killed in the attack

INVASION OF THE SOVIET UNION

Operation Barbarossa was the code name.

It began on June 22, 1941, the Red Army attacked.

The Soviet Union lost more than 4 million soldiers.

OPERATION OVERLORD

The Allied forces launched an attack on Germany.

On June 6, 1944, D-Day marked the end of World War II.

BRITAIN’S PERSPECTIVE

Britain suffered a great loss because of Nazi Germany. After the war, Britain had lost more than 40 percent of their merchant ships. British economy crashed in the 20s as the unemployment rates skyrocketed. In order to maintain its land, Britain tried to stay out of war and conflict.

WORLD WAR II FACTS

40,000 men who served on the U-boats did not return.

The first American serviceman killed was killed by the Russians.

80% of Soviet males born in 1923 didn't survive World War 2

The highest ranking American killed was Lt. Gen. Lesley McNair, killed by the US Army Air Corps.
