Superripe aromas of cherry, plum, tobacco and smoky minerality, nutty oak, smoked meat, mocha and spices ; showing a whiff of dried rose. Then supple, silky and sweet, conveying an impression of brooding extract at the attack. Weighty and supple in texture, offering sweet dark fruit flavors and notes of candied flowers and smoky black tea at middle palate. Finishes with broad, ripe tannins. Generous and impressively concentrated pinot with a lot of immediate appeal. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comment Options 10/29/2012 - Thracian Alvarinho Likes this wine: Deep ruby. Very ripe aromas of black cherry, violet and spices, plus a whiff of celery seed. Dense, lush and very sweet, with complex notes of minerals, tobacco, sweet spicies and bitter chocolate. The chewy, smooth and ripe tannins arrive late and are nicely supported by the wine's material. A rather large-scaled wine with just enough acidity. Licorice finish is long. Despite the risk and difficulty of maintaining such a diverse viticultural area the debut bottlings indicate these are wines with a sense of place and mineral richness. The 2011 Pinot Noir has a medium garnet colour with pink highlights. The elegant nose features sappy cherry, raspberry and even savoury cornelian cherry running alongside mineral accents and a distinct floral perfume. The palate reflects deep and pure fruit, a bit on the sweet side backed by firm tannins and juicy, mouthwatering acidity picking up accents of stony minerality, licorice, musk and pipe tobacco towards the finish where there is an apparent heat leaving an aftertaste like cherry liqueur.
