Wave: A warp effect that bends a selected object in a wave-like shape. The degree to which the wave affectsthe object is determined by the sliders in the dialogue box that pops up when you select this effect.

Warp Tool (Shift-R): One of the liquify tools found in the toolbar, the Warp tool allows the user to manipulatean object in whichever direction you drag the tool across the object. Doing so creates new anchor points andchanges the shape of the object, molding it in whichever way the user wishes.

Wrinkle Tool: A liquify tool that warps the outline of an object into wrinkled form.

speed up your workflow and keep focus on creating with vector graphics instead of running through panels andmenus.

Preview Mode (Control-Y): Allows the user to toggle between the document's outline and preview mode. Inpreview mode, the default view of documents in Illustrator, you view your artwork in full color with the effects, attributes and so on that have been applied to objects within it. In outline mode, you get a chance to see what's"under the hood"; linked files are displayed as boxes, and objects are outlined only if they're fully expanded (soeffects disappear in this view mode). It's like seeing a wire frame of the design work without the detail ofpreview mode, causing it to load more quickly.

Zoom Tool (Z): A commonly used tool for focusing on a certain area of the vector work by increasing themagnification size, or to focus on the larger picture by decreasing the magnification size.

There's something so elegant about holiday greeting cards with their gilded script fonts, glittery snowmen, andoften paper craft designs. One such craft that I long for the time and patience to practice is that of paper quilling(or paper filigree). Not only does the art form allow for intricately designed curves, spirals, and loops, the look ofthe final product, like most sculpture, can change with the way the piece is lit. Follow along for a tutorial onbringing this art form to your desktop via Adobe Illustrator CC, where we'll play with fonts, brush styles, andfaking some studio lighting for a seasonal greeting.Text Effects Tutorials
