Lets Speak Technical

Green Architecture

Indore needs to be educated in Green Architecture, simply cladding the walls with Aluminum Sheets and using improper glass for the facades will only result in more expenditures on Mechanical Solutions. The Architecture of Indore is very vague, even though the climatic conditions here permit that, but it is still an inefficient way of construction.

Using better methods of energy conservation and sticking to the LEED or similar green rating system will be of great help. Currently the only green solution that is seen is the use of solar water heaters and glazings (which are still installed without proper knowledge). There is a huge scope for energy conservation from the buildings in Indore.

The Establishment Of MetroWe cannot ignore the fact that Indore is growing exponentially and merging with cities nearby, a metro would help in decentralization and at the same time compliment growth. Why do we always have to React to a problem we can take measures appropriate beforehand too!!

Three National HighwaysAll major cities grow because of their connectivity, same for Indore, in addition to being well connected to nearby locations and being in central India, it has 3 major highways. However this traffic from the highway need to be bypassed and regulated, albeit it will only lead to congestion.

Scope for plantationIndore has immense scope for plantations but just like Delhi, it lacks motivation. Indore needs something like common wealth games to probe the govt. into action

Vernacular Architecture

Unlike other cities which have developed a set way of construction like most cities in Rajasthan use underground water storage or like in Gujarat most buildings have smartly placed windows, Indore has no such Architecture Principle being carried on. The Society is highly amalgamated and picks on the top principles of the country without considering wether they are applicable for Indore's climate of not.

There needs to be a trend of Architecture for Indore as-well, people need to take a step forward and break the conventional methods being used. Indore is a city with climate unique from from other cities, therefore it needs the Architecture unique for it.

Water PreservationSince there is no chronic shortage of water in Indore due to the Narmada River, this make the people careless, rarely you will find someone who has used water conservation techniques with efficacy that is required.

ConclusionEducating the Common Man to use more Efficient Architecture.Promoting the Architects to use more Green Methods.

Indore has a great culture, even better demographics and location, all it needs is control. Once the suburbs are established, the transport linked, the trees planted and the zones segregated the city will definitely, grow up to be one of the most successful cities in INDIA. This is the right time and the only time to control how the city grows, will it grow haphazardly and choke itself out or will the city spread and rise, creating synergy as it grows. It is time crucial for Planners, Architects, Industrialists and The People to step forward and take a stand...

Indore is our dear city, and we should take care of it as it has taken ours.
