Bruce Wayne is the only son of Thomas and Martha Wayne the owners and creators of Wayne Enterprises.

Thomas and Martha were killed one night by a mugger in front of Bruce. This event changed him to want to fight crime and save the people of Gotham City.

Bruce Wayne keeps suspicions off of him by maintaining his playboy facade.

Various details have changed over the years but the event that got him started remains the same.
