Size of spiral silencer depends on temperature and amount of gasses flow. In designing process level of gas flow in pipes is included. Velocity of exhaust gasses should be between 50 m/s and 75 m/s. Max back pressure specified by the engine manufacturer should be given.

ATEX - basic construction element of spiral silencer is spiral inside, which allows for free flow of ex-haust gasses. Such silencer takes only 1/3 space and ½ weight of standard industrial silencers. Spiral silencers have more advantages:

- designed for limited / small installation spaces- designed standard mounting brackets for all models of spiral silencers (ot ways of mounting on request),- opportunity to re-design different models for the needs of the customer,- in standard made of aluminized steel (with higher corrosion resistance)Sheet thickness - 1,5 mm, or 2 mm (models 60 and higher) - Optional possibility to made spiral silencer of acid resistant stainless steel 1.4301 (AISI304), or 1.4404 (AISI 316)- Noise reduction by reflection,- the possibility of reverse assembly - REVERSE FLOW (on request),- Wide range of installation possibilities- Exhaust gasses speed up to 75 m/s

Spiralsilencers–constructionandassembly

- Mounting brackets Spiral silencers should be installed with using ATEX’s mounting brackets. They are specially designed for high est stability.

- Material Material used in production of ATEX’s spiral silencers is 1,5 mm thick. Above models 60 thickness 2 mm. In standard it is aluminized steel. There is optional possibility to made spiral silencer of acid resistant stain less steel 1.4301 (AISI304), or 1.4404 (AISI 316)

- Connections Possible to re-design inlet and outlet (on request)

- Surface treatment Our silencers are black painted with high temperature resistant paint (up to 600°C). Silver painted – on re quest. Please note that painting does not guarantee long-term corrosion resistance. In this case, we propose silencers made of acid resistant stainless steel.

- Flexible elements To protect silencer against cracks, flexible elements (f. ex. bellows) must be absolutely used. It allows for separation of vibration from the engine to the exhaust system.

- Thermal insulation To insulate silencer in small installation spaces, it is possible to cover it with triple insulation blankets (thick ness 25 mm). Insulations codes in next pages of catalogue.

- Condensate Due to spiral construction condensate is blown out immediately. To protect silencer against rain, we recom mend rain caps, elbows, or cut and welded pipe. Possible to weld drainage nozzle – on request.

- Choice of spiral silencer Choice of spiral silencer depends of temperature and amount of exhaust gasses. During selecting silencer we should take into account the complete exhaust system (with intake pipe and outlet from the muffler).

- Reverse assembly - Reverse Flow For some installations reverse assembly is required. It is of course possible, but you have to inform us about it. Then we will design silencer especially for you.

Thermal insulation for silencers and pipes

Thermal insulation for silencers and pipes

Fibreglass insulation blankets even of modest thickness ensure a considerable temperature reduction.

Application – an example:To reduce the temperature of a silencer box from 650°C to 80°C one should use 25 mm thick insula-tion blanket also ensuring appropriate ventilation.

Advantages• easy to put on and take off• low temperature of the blanket surface • applicable on a number of different part shapes

Insulation structure – 3 layers:• fibreglass – temperature resistant • blanket made with no binders• to protect the insulation from dirt, it is covered with silicon

Assembly:The blanket is put on using a stainless wire that is latched on to special hooks on the insulation.
