Leadership Program Goals

Our goals were for each girl to see herself as a

leader – making it attainable for every

student

“Leading Confidently”Each Harpeth Hall student develops the confidence to lead in her own way. She is aware of the value of every individual and accepts her responsibility to shape the

community for the better.

She exemplifies integrity

She respects others and herself

She is always learning

She understands her actions make a difference

She acts when she sees a need

She contributes with a positive attitude

She inspires others through her dedication

She listens thoughtfully to the ideas of others

She communicates effectively

She understands when to lead and when to follow.A Harpeth Hall student understands that

learning to lead confidently is a life-long endeavor.

What do the 10 attributes mean to our students?

In the Middle School, we broke these 10 attributes down for each grade level.

Phase 1: Specific Goals for 2010-2011 School Year

Develop an 8th Grade Leadership TEAM

Use Middle School Meeting as a forum for all students

Start a Magnolia Binder through advisory

Weave our Values Statement into Leadership Activities and Plans

Connect Leadership pieces to the classroom, advisory, new student orientation, athletics, retreats/trips, Leadership & Service Learning Days, Clubs

Must have community buy-in

Make sure we maintain grade-specific programs

Don’t focus on too much

Be very clear about teacher roles and responsibilities

Specific leadership skills need to be taught to students

Develop Leadership Development Section on Harpeth Hall’s Website

Special Projects: Balloons Project, Biz Town

Service Learning: Cumberland River Compact (focus is on giving of oneself)

New Student Orientation: Introduce Leadership Theme for the Year, Team-Building Activities, etc.

New Student Orientation: Introduce Leadership Theme for the Year, Team-Building Activities, uniting of “two classes”
