Jacob Jeffrey Quale was born June 29, 1990, to Randy and Anita Quale in Watford City, ND. He died as a result of an accident June 3, 2009, in rural McKenzie County. Jacob attended school K through 12 in Watford City. He recently celebrated graduation with the class of 2009 and was looking forward to attending Dickinson State University and playing football with the Blue Hawks. In high school as “big defensive linebacker #54” Jacob excelled in football and enjoyed State Championships in 2006 and 2008 with the Wolves. Jacob was selected as All-Conference/All-Region his junior and senior years and All-State First Team his senior year. His coaches also named him Most Valuable Defensive Player in 2008. Jacob had the honor of being selected to play in the Shrine Football game this sum- mer. Jacob played hockey for 13 years with the Watford City Oilers start- ing as a Termite at the age of 5. His favorite hockey memory was win- ning the PeeWee B1 State Tournament in 2002. As a Forward, wearing #45, Jacob was known for his aggressive enforcement style of play. In high school Jacob also participated in FFA, FBLA, track, and choir. Jacob was a member and was baptized and confirmed at the Epiphany Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and also a mass server. Jacob enjoyed spending time at McKenzie Bay with his family and friends, wakeboarding, boating, sitting around bonfires, snowboarding, watching movies, driving around with friends, and singing loudly to Rock Band. Jacob had worked for Watford City Park Board and was currently working for True Oil, south of Arnegard. Jacob is survived by his parents, Randy and Anita Quale; his brother, Alex; his sister, Marti all of Watford City, ND; grandmother, Angie Mrachek of Alexander, ND; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friend, Dani Hendrickson. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Sig and Earl Quale; maternal grandfather, John Mrachek; and special friend, Billie Jo Heiser. Jacob loved wearing ties, hats, and sunglasses. He never missed an opportunity to get dressed up in a shirt and tie. He cleaned up well. He was a friend to all ages. He had a big smile, a big heart, and gave big hugs.
