After learning to juggle at the age 6, I have alwayshad a fascination with circus skills. Over the years I'veprogressed on to try different elements such as thediabolo, poi and staff as well as being able to balancenearly anything on my chin. Then the was the obviousnext stage of trying the same things but on fire.

I was lucky enough to run a business where I spent 5years teaching circus skills to people of all ages. Due toother work commitments I had to step back from thebusiness but still do it as a hobby when I can and am nowpassing it all on to my children.

Welcome to the tenth year of

Looking back to our initial beginnings when this event evolved from Music in The Marsh at

The Saddlers Arms, who would have believed it that we would still be running this event

after ten years. We have come a long way from our initial humble beginnings when we

had two small stages inside our two scout marquees and a few side stalls. Subsequently

we were gifted the tent that we now convert into our main stage and every year we

have been able to slowly build our infrastructure so that we can now put on the show

that you are witnessing today. Whilst we are serious about our music, we have always

concentrated on making the event a child friendly one so that the whole family can

enjoy the experience. It is so lovely to see all the groups pitch up with their blankets and

gazebos and make such a day of it.

Ripley Scout Group are now the very proud owners of a brand new storage barn which you

can see behind the main stage. This has only been possible due to the funds raised from

Ripley Rocks and for which we are most grateful.

So, welcome everybody, thank you for your support over the years and please enjoy the day.

Matilda May is an up and coming

contemporary artist, with heavy blues and

jazz influences. Her sound is a jazzy take on

current popular music. With her soulful voice

it’s very easy for the audience to sit back, relax

and have a good time. Matilda May is really

looking forward to playing in her home town

again after a year of travelling with her music.

RISK are a 3-piece Experimental Rock band from

Surrey, England.

Our main genres of influence are Classic Rock,

Punk Rock, Alternative, Progressive Rock, and

New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.

We are a young, energetic, colourful and vibrant

performance piece, including many of our own

songs that range from Progressive epics to short

and sweet Punk-esque crowd-pleasers. We treat

our audiences to all manners of entertainment.

We strongly believe in conveying messages

through our music that our listeners will think on. The focal points in many of our songs tackle ethical and political issues in the modern world that seem to just be considered the norm, when in actuality, something needs to be done about the issues.

However, not all of our songs relate to real-world issues. Many of our songs are heavily based on biblical references, which in-turn are used as a metaphor for things that affect us on a personal level. We always strive to tackle a subject in a creative manner, using vivid descriptions in lyric content to engage the listener.

There is probably no one reading this that has not been a�ected by that dreadful disease cancer whether directly or indirectly through family, friend or loved ones.

Well that is what happened to us when our friend posted on his facebook page“today is the start of the biggest adventure of my life, the �ght for life itself”.

In February 2017, Nicky Dean was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given 6-18 months to live at 55. Over the coming months, as life gets harder, it is inevitable that he will need some help, care and advice. This will be coming from friends, family and no doubt Macmillan Cancer Support.

So with the support of the Ripley Bon�re Association, Ripley Scouts and many wonderful friends and family we have decided to realise one of Nicky’s mad ideas and hold a charity day, based around Push Kart races, of all things!

Adults will compete in teams of two though a series of 'heats’ and may the best team win! Not forgetting the little ones, there will also be kids races too, hooray!!

There are two options for those wanting to take part, either

Option 1: Get your spanners and build your own

Option 2: Hop into one of our race prepared karts!

PRIZES will be awarded for style and design, so get your thinking caps on!
