    The fairy tale is a fiction, a fantastic combination of places,characters, ideas, objects, a space where everything is possible.It represents a bridge between the dream and theimagination, between the adventure and the fantasy, astimulation for the creativity and it teach the children how totrust themselves, but also to enter in a fantastic world ,full ofmysteries and joy. The fairy tales were always a goodmodality to send a message to children.

    Nowadays the fairy tales are a little bit different.Is it possible that the content of the fairy tale changefrom a generation to another?Are they adapted to the modern world and to thepresent reality?Have the Snow White and Cinderella the same placein the childrens word or the favourites characters arenow Harry Potter and Pokmon?How can we choosethe fairy tales to be told to our children?

    How can we choose the appropriatestory for our children?Before choosing a fairy tale we should think about our child andabout what is need for him to understand and develop to thatspecific age.For instance if he is afraid of dark, we can choose a story abouta character who is surpassing some fears, some obstacles.Choose a story with a nice subject, with an educationalfunctional which can influence him in a positive way.Furthermore, if we choose to read a fairy tale from a book, weshould choose a colourful book and with a lot of images inside, sothat the child can easily associate the text with the picture.

    Which is the psihological role of fairy tales?The fairy tales are developing the imagination of the children.They can participate to the adventures thinking about what isgoing to happen next, imaging how the caracters look like,

    who are them.The imagination has an important role in their life, since it helpsthem to create, to play.The game is their main activity and also the first psihologicalinstrument which links their internal world of the real life.Thus and so the child can create his own story, he/she can playone caracter and he /she can invent new adventures.

    Stories embodies a mirror for thechild and its inner universehey often translate gestures, actions, behaviours that childrendo not understand them to the adults.The stories offer to the child the opportunity to identify withcertain characters, to recognize him in the characters and to

    identify other characteristics of the people around him,succeeding in this manner to rediscover them.Fantasy gives access to parts of the adults world a prohibiteduniverse, but desirable. The child can be anyone he wants, canexperience the role of parent, of old person or witch.This means that he can design in these characters, what it ishard to understand for him or what he badly wants to happenin real life.

    The stories consolidate the connection betweenchild and the educatorThrough the appurtenance of the two in the same space and time, in anactivity that brings them together and that filters not only words, butfeelings, thoughts, gestures.The educator is the story bearer towards the child, especially when the

    child cannot read, it is the mouthpiece that gives voice to all characters thatreveal the action and towards which the child invests all his curiosity,disappointment, delight or displeasure.Some favourite stories are reread several times, sometimes there are longstories read by pieces. It is a ritual that contributes to the connectionsconsolidation, sending both to the educator and children the emotion thatappears while reading and listening together.

    Stories develop languageThey facilitate the child's access to new words andexpressions, a fluent expression and intonation, understandingabstract or metaphorical meaning of words, elaboratingcognitive and verbal representations.The child can retell them afterwards, sometimes he candraw or create certain games in which he will use theknowledge he learned.

    Stories develop vocabulary and increase bag of words thatthe child can use child in various situations to express orexplain.

    The stories enrich the emotional life of the child-giving him the opportunity to feel, to live with the characters,having access to view, to hear, to transpose, and to imagine howthey feel and what kind of feelings have the ones from stories.Children often ask questions, sigh, enjoy, cry, they are

    completely transposed in that particular story and it loads themwith emotions that they try to understand, having in mind whatthey feel and what happens to the characters.Stories often bring to children conflicting emotions: love, hate,fear, anger, helplessness or confrontation between good and evil.These representations of affects are difficult for children, beingabstract and any form of mediation is useful in their attempt tounderstand them.

    Fantastic world of stories fascinate children since early age, no matterthey are read at home by their parents or grandparents, or they are read bythe educator.Not only ones we can surprise them in the chosen games, gesturing ortalking to imaginary characters, or taking part in the games held and easilybecoming characters.The tale is an opportunity for children to experience different facets oftheir experiences and to strengthen confidence that "good" can defeat "evil."
