Creative Photography 2/3 Students will explore and experiment the aesthetic foundations of art using various photography techniques.
Students will become familiar with the parts and mechanics of various cameras, compositional foundations, printing, the elements and principles of design, and how to evaluate/critique successful prints.
This course may cover, but is not limited to, the following processes and techniques:
Various types of photography via film and digital media, the history of photography, lighting, Photoshop and photo editing methods/software, mixed media, photo collage, creative filters, constructive critiquing, digital output via a variety of media, and visual journaling. A heavier emphasis on photographic mastery, DSLR use, and film photography is highlighted in Photo 2 & 3.

LAB FEES:Our class lab fees help to cover the cost of various art and photography supplies throughout the year – please provide the fee for your appropriate course in a timely manner. Let me know if there are any extenuating circumstances.

Lab Fees for Multiple Art Classes: If enrolled in multiple art classes at one time at Lakeland High (digital art, ceramics, and drawing) your lab fees are lowered to:
Enrolled in 2 art classes: $40.00
Enrolled in 3 art classes: $50.00 total
CLASS EXPECTATIONS:
Students will handle expensive technological and photographic equipment, as well as explore the school campus to take photographs, based on what they are learning. Appropriate behavior and safety is essential.
Arrive to class prepared and on time each day – be on-task and working before the bell, (The tardy policy is strictly enforced in this class)
Comply to all school policies, especially those involving computer, personal devices, IDs, and camera use,
Respect each other, the classroom, the materials, the rules, and your educator,
You must be wearing a school ID around your neck at all times or you will be sent to the office,
o Photography student IDs must also be worn when taking photographs outside of the classroom and always returned afterwards.
Absolutely no entering classrooms or any teaching areas/leaving school property when out taking photos for this course,
Absolutely no plagiarism, Be creative, have fun, and be kind!
GRADE RECOVERY POLICY:
Students that qualify for grade recovery at the end of each 9 weeks will be given the opportunity to make up a number of missing assignments by an agreed upon date. The assignment descriptions can be accessed any time at msgallagherart.wordpress.com
Please understand that participation in grade recovery does not guarantee a passing grade for the course unless all missing assignments are completed satisfactorily.
COURSE GRADING SCALE:
Each assignment is graded according t0 rubrics that will be presented to the students in advance. No work of art will be graded or judged based on opinion. There are clear standards on each rubric for the quality of work that each student should meet to receive their cooperating grade. Check the student/parent portal frequently. I will also provide students with an overall D
