SC Milca.

To prevent serious personal injury, all directions and instructions in this manual should be carefully read and observed.

-This manual describes the assembly and disassembly of the cable break protection 25453.-Your cable break protection is designed in accordance with the latest European standards EN 12604 / EN12605; however you should check whether this is in accordance with your local national standards.-Adding or removing parts may have an adverse effect on the operation and thus the safety of the final sectional gate and is therefore strongly discouraged!-All indications regarding right/left installation are seen from the place of installation, i.e. from the inside looking out!-Unless stated otherwise, all measurements are in millimetres.-This manual needs to be carefully stored.-We reserve the right to modify specifications without written notice.

2.1 Safety requirements regarding installation, use and maintenance

-The garage gate may only be installed, connected and commisioned by skilled personnel. -When working on the electrics, always ensure the power is and remains isolated!

-L-angles and guide tracks must be designed and fixed to a construction or stone wall in such a way that theyare strong enough to be able to carry the force if a cable breaks.-This cable break protection should never be bypassed.

-Never operate the sectional gate if you see that this cable break protection is damaged.-During installation / maintenance of the cable break protection, wear at least gloves, safety shoes and, when drilling, safety goggles!-Secure the installation / maintenance site using an appropriate safety device to keep others (children) at distance.-Maintenance should only be performed by a specialist firm and/or qualified personnel.

3. General

A cable break protection device prevents the door panel from falling. A blade is inserted into the running track toprevent the door panel from falling. The cable break protection device is triggered immediately upon a cable breaking.

EN V2.02 SC Milca

SC MilcaManual

4. Scope of application

The cable break protection 25453 and 25453-A are used in hand, chain, or electrically operated sectional gates. The difference between versions 25453 and 25453-A consists of a different hole pattern in the mounting plate(see 11).Max. door weight: 44 - 450kg

The maximum cable diameter is: 5 mmThe guide tracks should be of the 2 type. (Also see 7: Guide track specifications) The rollers should be of the 2 type (46mm), with shafts 11mm thick. If the cable break protection roller reaches the bend, the inside radius should be a minimum of R=381.

5. Working principle

When a cable breaks, the tension in the steel cable is released. This causes the spring of the cable break protection topush the blade module against the guide track. The blade cuts into the guide track and stops the door panel.

6. Installation

1) Position the cable break protection (type R shown) onto the bottom section and secure it.

2) Position the roller in the cable break protection.3) Position the cable break protection with roller in the guide tracks.

4) Check the module rotates FREELY!

5) Take the steel cable fitted with an eye (5mm) and place it in the cable guide, as in figures below!

EN V2.04 SC Milca

6) Now tension both steel

cables (L+R) equally. Thisis achieved by tightening the nuts. See figures to the right.

7) Tension the springs.8) Slowly push the door panel upwards and make sure the blades of the cable break protection do not touch the bend. See figures below.

9) An electrically operated door should be fitted with a micro switch (25445). Take the safety cover and fit the switch as in the figures below. Pay attention to the cable guide.

10) Push the safety cover onto the underside of the cable break protection and secure the cover using a Parker screw (14017). Pay attention to the cable guide.CAUTION! The tape aroundthe blade should not be removed! Its purpose is to prevent injury and to determine whether the blade has been triggered!

EN V2.05 SC Milca

7. Guide track + offset specifications

When using a 40mm panel, an offset of 33mm should be used.RVS guide tracks may not be used.

8. What should you do if a cable break is triggered?

1) Secure the door panel using struts or the fork of a forklift truck so the door panel is prevented from fallingfurther.2) Lift the door panel up until the blade is freed from the guide track and the rotation module can be turned back.3) Block the rotation module.4) Bring the door panel down in a controlled manner. 5) Remove the cable break protection completely (when triggered, it should be replaced in its entirety).6) Remove the sharp burr in the guide track and check the whole door for deformation, pay special attention torollers and guide track, and replace if necessary!7) Install a replacement cable break protection in accordance with this manual.

9. Testing the cable break protection

In accordance with CE regulations, sectional gates should be checked yearly. The maintenance engineer should check the following:1) Check whether the tape has been damaged. This could mean the blade rubs against the guide track.2) If the blade is damaged, the entire cable break protection unit should be replaced.3) For electrically operated gates, check whether the micro switch activates and check the rotation of the module.

10. Maintenance

Cable break protection units should not need maintenance. The only thing that can be done is remove dirt.
