    1.3 SUBMITTALS

    Submittal procedures.

    B. SHOP DRAWINGS:

    Indicate materials, component profiles, fastening methods, jointing details and accessories.

    C. PRODUCT DATA

    1. Submit data on fire retardant treatment materials and application instructions.

    2. Submit data on attachment hardware and finish hardware.

    D. SAMPLES

    1. Submit two samples of finish plywood, 200 x 250mm in size illustrating wood grain and specified finish.

    2. Submit two samples of wood trim 300mm long.

    3. Submit two samples of laminates, prefinished paneling, synthetic surfacing, hardware items and shop finishes.

    1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE

    A. SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL:

    Factory-mark each piece of lumber and plywood with type, grade mark, mill identification mark, and trade mark of APA, and other associations having jurisdiction.

    B. CERTIFICATIONS:

    Submit following certificates for Engineers information only.

    1. PRESERVATIVE TREATMENT:

    Certification by treatment plant stating chemicals and process used, net amount of salts retained, conformance with applicable standards, and moisture content after treatment.

    2. FIRE-RETARDANT TREATMENT:

    Certification by treating plant that fire retardant treatment materials comply with governing ordinances and treatment will not bleed through finished surfaces.

    C. Perform work in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

    D. Maintain one copy of each document on site.

    1.5 QUALIFICATIONS

    A. FABRICATOR:

    Company specializing in fabricating the products specified in this section with minimum three years documented experience.

    1.6 MOCK-UP

    A. Section 014000 QUALITY CONTROL.

    B. Provide mock-ups, full size.

    C. Locate where directed.

    D. Mock-up may remain as part of the Work.

    1.7 PRE-INSTALLATION MEETING

    A. Section 013000 - SUBMITTAL.

    B. Convene minimum one week prior to commencing Work of this section.

    1.8 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

    A. Section 016000 MATERIAL and EQUIPMENT.

    B. Keep materials dry during transit and storage. Protect against exposure to weather and contact with damp or wet surfaces.

    C. Stack lumber and plywood above ground and provide air circulation within stacks. Cover with waterproofing protective covering.

    1.9 FIELD MEASUREMENTS

    Verify field measurements prior to fabrication.

    1.10 SEQUENCING

    Sequence installation to ensure utility connections are achieved in an orderly and expeditious manner.

    1.11 COORDINATION

    A. Section 013000 ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS:

    Coordination and project conditions.

    B. Coordinate the Work with installation of associated and adjacent components.

    PART 2 - PRODUCTS

    2.1 COMPONENTS

    A. SOFTWOOD LUMBER:

    AWI Grade III maximum moisture content of 4-8 percent; and the following:

    1. SPECIES of WOOD:

    As shown on the drawings.

    2. CUT or SLICING of WOOD:

    As shown on the drawings.

    3. MATCHING of INDIVIDUAL LEAVES to EACH OTHER:

    Random matching.

    B. SOFTWOOD PLYWOOD:

    AWI Grade AA veneer; with medium density fiberboard core; type of glue recommended for application; and the following:

    1. SPECIES of VENEER:

    As shown on the Drawings.

    2. CUT or SLICING of VENEER:

    As shown on the Drawings.

    3. MATCHING of INDIVIDUAL LEAVES to EACH OTHER:

    Book matching.

    4. MATCHING ACROSS the PANEL FACE:

    Running matching.

    5. MATCHING or RELATIONSHIP of PANELS to EACH OTHER:

    Premanufactured sets.

    C. HIGH PRESSURE DECORATIVE LAMINATE:

    Solid color high pressure decorative laminated sheets, matching in color and pattern selected by Engineer and Interior Designer.

    D. PRE-FINISHED PANELING:

    Face species, 6mm thick finishes as shown on drawings.

    E. WOOD PARTICLEBOARD:

    ANSI A208.1 Type 1; composed of wood chips or sawdust, medium density, made with water resistant adhesive; sanded faces.

    F. HARDBOARD:

    AHA A135.4; Pressed wood fiber with resin binder, standard grade, 6mm thick, smooth two sides.

    G. PEGBOARD:

    Pressed wood fiber with resin binder, standard grade; 3 mm thick, 4 mm diameter holes at 25 mm on center 6 mm thick with 7 mm diameter holes at 25 mm on center.

    H. SHEET METAL COMPONENTS:

    Stainless steel, Type 316 with #4 satin finish; as shown on the drawings.

    I. SYNTHETIC SURFACING:

    Synthetic marble of polyester resins, with integral color and design, stain resistant to domestic chemicals and cleaners.

    2.3 ACCESSORIES

    A. ADHESIVE:

    Urea-formaldehyde resin.

    B. FASTENERS:

    Of size and type to suit application; rough finish in concealed locations and polished finish in exposed locations.

    C. CONCEALED JOINT FASTENERS:

    Threaded steel.

    D. LUMBER for SHIMMING and BLOCKING:

    Softwood lumber.

    E. VENEER EDGE BAND:

    Standard wood veneer edge band matching face veneer.

    F. PLASTIC EDGE TRIM:

    Extruded flat shaped; smooth finish; self locking serrated tongue; of width to match component thickness; color as selected.

    Clear tempered glass specified in Section 088800 with beveled edges and flat panels as indicated. Bevel edges prior to tempering.

    H. PRIMER:

    Alkyd primer sealer type.

    I. WOOD FILLER:

    Oil base, tinted to match surface finish color.

    J. WOOD TREATMENT:

    1. PRESERVATIVE TREATMENT:

    Pressure-treat with water-borne CCA preservatives in compliance with AWPA C2 and C9. After treatment, kiln-dry to maximum 15% moisture content for plywood and maximum 19% moisture content for lumber.

    2. FIRE-RETARDANT TREATMENT:

    Chemically treated and pressure impregnated in compliance with AWPA C20 and C27, with flame spread less than 25 when tested in compliance with ASTM E84, UL Test 723, or maximum 19% moisture content for lumber.

    3. WATER REPELLANT PRESERVATIVE TREATMENT by DIPPING METHOD:

    With 0.25 cubic lbs/in/ft of chromated copper arsenate.

    4. Provide identification on fire retardant treated material.

    5. Deliver fire retardant treated materials cut to required sizes. Minimize field cutting.

    K. ROUGH HARDWARE:

    Nails, spikes, screws, staples, bolts, anchors, washers and other rough hardware necessary for proper anchorage of work.

    L. ADHESIVES:

    Must be compatible with preservative treatment.

    2.4 FABRICATION

    A. Fabricate to AWI Premium standards.

    B. Shop assemble work for delivery to site, permitting passage through building openings.

    C. Fit exposed sheet material edges with matching hardwood edging. Use one piece for full length only.

    D. Cap exposed high pressure decorative laminate finish edges with material of same finish and pattern.

    E. Shop prepare and identify components for book match grain matching during site erection.

    F. When necessary to cut and fit on site, provide materials with ample allowance for cutting. Provide trim for scribing and site cutting.

    G. Apply high pressure decorative laminate finish in full uninterrupted sheets consistent with manufactured sizes. Fit corners and joints hairline; secure with concealed fasteners.

    H. Apply laminate backing sheet to reverse face of high pressure decorative laminate finished surfaces.

    2.5 SHOP FINISHING

    A. Sand work smooth and set exposed nails and screws.

    B. Apply wood filler in exposed nail and screw indentations.

    C. On items to receive transparent finishes, use wood filler which matches surrounding surfaces and of types recommended for applied finishes.

    D. Finish work in accordance with AWI - Section 1500 Finish System.

    E. Seal internal surfaces and semi-concealed surfaces.

    PART 3 - EXECUTION

    3.1 EXAMINATION

    A. Section 013000 - SUBMITTAL.

    B. Verify adequacy of backing and support framing.

    C. Verify mechanical, electrical, and building items affecting work of this section are placed and ready to receive this work.

    3.2 EXISTING WORK

    Modify and extend existing finish carpentry installations using materials and methods as specified.

    3.3 INSTALLATION

    A. Set Work accurately to required lines and levels, members plumb and true and accurately cut and fitted.

    1. Cut out and replace crooked, warped, bowed and otherwise defective material, even if material is within specified grade limits.

    B. Securely attach wood to steel with carriage bolts or countersunk machine bolts; to concrete with anchor bolts to hollow masonry with toggle bolts; to wood with nails, spikes, screws and bolts as applicable.

    1. Secure wood to concrete and concrete masonry maximum 400mm on center into center of mortar joints.

    2. Provide standard washers for bolt heads and nuts bearing upon wood.

    3. Provide fasteners of size not to penetrate members where opposite side will be exposed to view or sill receive finish materials. Predrill as required; install fasteners without splitting wood.

    C. Provide wood strips, furring, nailers, grounds, blocking for toilet accessories and handrails, and framing of thicknesses, sizes and shapes required for gypsum board, roofing, flashing, countertop framing, wood trim, and other related work.

    1. Erect true-o-lines and levels. Do not deviate from true alignment more than 3mm in 3 meters.

    2. Space members 600mm on center, unless indicated otherwise.

    D. Construct members of continuous pieces of longest possible lengths.

    E. SITE APPLIED WOOD TREATMENT:

    1. Apply preservative treatment.

    2. Brush coat with appropriate preservative treatment on wood in contact with cementitious materials, roofing and related metal flashings.

    3. Allow preservative to dry prior to erecting members.

    F. PREPARATION for SITE FINISHING:

    1. SITE FINISHING:

    Refer to Section 099000.

    2. Before installation, prime paint surfaces of items or assemblies to be in contact with cementitious materials.

    3.4 ERECTION TOLERANCES
