4.1 INTRODUCTION-

The present chapter presents the analysis of data, results sand their interpretation. Each section is followed by a brief discussion of the results obtained.

Analysis of data means to make the raw data meaningful or to draw some result form the data after the proper treatment. The null hypothesis are tested with the help of analysis of data so as to obtain some significant result. Thus the analysis of data serves the following main functions-

(i) To make the raw data meaningful

(ii) To test null hypothesis

(iii) To obtain significant results

(iv) To draw some inference or make generalization

(v) To estimate parameters

After analyzing the data, the next step is to interpret the results. The process of interpretation is essential on the stating what the results or findings show? What do they mean? What is the answer to the original problem?

Interpretation calls for a critical examination of the result of one's analysis in the light of all the limitations of his data gathering and his subjective attitude which should be avoided. One must be critical of one's own thinking.

In the present study, the analysis and interpretation of data were done in the following way-

TESTING OF HYPOTHESIS NO. 1

pre-service teacher trainees and in service teacher trainees do not differ significantly in their level of environmental awareness.

For testing above hypothesis mean and standard deviation of the scores of these sub-groups were computed.

The mean of level of environmental awareness of pre service teacher trainees and in service teacher trainees are 52.71 and 53.48 respectively. Their S.D. value is 13.17 and 12.17 respectively.

With the help of these SD. And mean value, critical ratio (t) is calculated, it is 0.52, it is not significant at 0.05 and 0.01 level of significance so null hypothesis 1 is accepted.

This shows that there is non significant difference of level of environmental awareness of pre service teacher trainees and in service teacher trainees TESTING OF HYPOTHESIS NO. 2
