What CIOs Love About BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10

Effective Enterprise Mobility Management is Now a Must-Have for all Organizations

Smartphones and tablets are proliferating in the workplace, with corporate- and personal-owned devices often used side-by-side, driven by user demand and business strategy. And issues like multiple platforms, mixed ownership and higher usage create a number of device management, security, unified communications and app management challenges.

With BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, you can easily deploy, manage, secure and control BYOD and corporate devices to truly mobilize your business.

Youll find ten (alright eleven) great reasons CIOs are choosing BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and there are many more.

  • 3 pg Top Ten Features of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10

    1. BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 is the Gold Standard for Secure End-to-End Mobility Building on our industry-leading security pedigree, BlackBerry 10 is enterprise-ready from day one. In fact, BlackBerry 10 was granted FIPS 140-2 certification even before its official launch.

All work apps, browser, email, and PIM are protected by BlackBerry end-to-end 256-bit encryption and a secure behind-the-firewall path.

The BlackBerry security you know and trust is integrated with BlackBerry Balance which separates work and personal data and with the BlackBerry World for Work corporate app store (find out more about both below). And BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 satisfies the full range of security needs, from a basic level up to very high levels of security and control.

It provides: Protection against data leakage Protection against unauthorized devices accessing corporate assets

A single outbound port for all communications, with no need for additional VPNs

The ability to secure corporate data and applications on BYOD personal devices

End-user privacy and freedom (through BlackBerry Balance)

    2. Flexible Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) Controls BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 enables enterprises to manage complex mobile fleets across multiple devices types, brands, operating systems, ownership and usage models all through a single platform and management console.

When advanced security and management isnt required, BlackBerry 10 smartphones support ActiveSync, giving IT a fast and easy solution for synchronizing with ActiveSync-supported messaging platforms.

Enterprises that are sensitive to the need to secure their corporate data will require greater security and management capabilities. Theyre likely to have a mix of mobile operating systems, corporate-provided and personally owned devices, and likely want to deploy and manage business applications. They may have different device control requirements depending on the

business unit and job role. For these customers, BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 delivers comprehensive security and management controls.

For enterprises where strict corporate-only use and application restriction policies are in place, or that require a high degree of granular control over device features, BlackBerry 10 smartphones and BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 combine to provide the ultimate device management solution for high-security mobility.

    3. An Intuitive Unified Administrator Console BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 gives administrators a single, web-based console that can manage devices, applications, users, and security services.

With one integrated view of your entire mobile landscape, you can: Manage all devices in one location, provision and activate devices, administer IT policies, push mandatory applications, and group users based on common criteria

Manage users who have more than one active device (e.g. a BlackBerry 10 smartphone and BlackBerry PlayBook tablet)

Manage multiple servers from a single domain Manage your BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 and/or BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express environment

    4. iOS and Android Device Management For iOS and Android devices, using the same familiar interface, administrators can add and import users, create group memberships, view user and device information, define IT policies and connectivity settings, manage applications on devices, and help users with the recovery of misplaced devices.

BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 also offers: Integrated support for TouchDown on Android devices (an ActiveSync-enabled add-on PIM application that supports full PIM sync and ActiveSync policies)

Secure enterprise access (Gatekeeping): An access control and monitoring layer on top of an existing mobile email server to provide statistics on the health of your mobile email infrastructure, as well as device-level access control to mobile email.

    8. Complete Mobile Application Management Through BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, businesses can seamlessly manage and curate a corporate app storefront (BlackBerry World for Work) within the BlackBerry Balance Work Space to push and install mandatory apps and publish recommended apps to both corporate and BYOD users.

IT Administrators can: Deploy, manage, and secure mandatory and recommended apps to employees

Assign apps to specific users or groups of users Remove work applications if a user deactivates their device

    9. Easy MigrationHow does BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 fit in within the overall BlackBerry enterprise software offering, and whats the path to getting there?

If youre running BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 (currently Version 5, Service Pack 4), youve got comprehensive management support for BlackBerry OS-based devices, including BlackBerry 7 OS.

And, if youre like many BlackBerry enterprise customers, you may have also installed BlackBerry Mobile Fusion. Its a package of add-on components that was designed to let you manage BlackBerry PlayBook tablets, as well as iOS- and Android-based devices.

BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 is effectively an upgrade to BlackBerry Mobile Fusion. A simple service pack update to BlackBerry Mobile Fusion will allow your organization to manage the new BlackBerry 10 devices. This setup will run in parallel to your existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 environment,

while providing a unified interface so you can see all of your users across both services at the same time.

If you didnt previously download BlackBerry Mobile Fusion, you can now download BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and decide which components to install (BlackBerry Device Service, Universal Device Service, or both). This is an on-premise software installation on a dedicated physical or virtual server. The server software is a no-charge download.

Users can be migrated over time as you upgrade to BlackBerry 10 devices. For more information, watch the Getting Ready for BlackBerry Enterprise Service: 10 Tips for IT Managers webcast which is part of this series.

Plus, to make the transition as smooth and seamless as possible, weve introduced the BlackBerry 10 Ready Program.

It includes: Helpful, hands-on tools and resources (including a webcast series covering a range of key topics)

A license trade up program: Swap existing CALs for BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 CALs for free

BlackBerry 10 Readiness Services: Access expert assistance with change management and planning, remote installation, migration services, application development and training.

    10. Free License Trade Up Until December 31, 2013, enterprise customers who purchase new BlackBerry 10 smartphones can trade up their existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server licenses on a one-for-one basis for free. The new standard license will allow customers to leverage their existing license investment to secure and manage their BlackBerry 10 smartphones with BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10.
