Group Activity TimeGroup Activity Time provides an active learning experience to review lesson concepts.

Option #1 MUSICAL PARADE What you need: musical instruments (1 per child), music What you do: Give each child an instrument. Have them line up and tell them that you are going to do a musical parade, just like Jehoshaphats army did as they marched into battle. Turn on the music and lead the children on a parade as they play their instruments and praise God. What you say: Today in our story we learned about King Jehoshaphat and how he needed Gods super power to help his people win a battle. All of the people prayed to God. As they walked into battle the people played their instruments and praised God, just like we did. Did God help them? Did he show his super power? We can pray to God just like they did, and God will help us too. Option #2 PRAYER CIRCLE What you need: ball What you do: Have the children sit in a circle. The leader will start with the ball and say a prayer request where he wants to see Gods super power. He will then roll the ball to a child in the circle. The child will say something that she wants to pray for and then roll the ball to another child. Continue until all the children have had a turn to talk. Conclude with the leader praying for the group. What you say: Today in our story we learned about King Jehoshaphat and how he needed Gods super power to help his people win a battle. All of the people prayed to God and asked for Gods help. Did God help them? Did he show his super power? We can pray to God just like they did, and God will help us too. Option #3 WHAT IS THAT SOUND? What you need: large paper sack, items that make sound (i.e. tambourine, baby rattle, bottle of water, paper to crumple, pair of dice, kazoo) What you do: Beforehand, place all of the items in the sack. Have the children sit on the floor. Have them close and cover their eyes with their hands while you take one of the items out of the sack and make a sound with it. Place the item back in the bag. Allow the children to open their eyes and guess what it was. Continue with the rest of the items. What you say: Today in our story we learned about King Jehoshaphat and how he needed Gods super power to help his people win a battle. All of the people prayed to God and asked for Gods help. Did God hear them? Did he know who was talking to him? In our game, you had to listen to figure out what was making the sound, but God already knows each of our voices. He is always listening. God helped King Jehoshaphat and his people win the battle. We can pray to God just like they did, and God will listen and help us too.

Directions: 1. On the paper, trace both of the childs hands with fingers together and thumbs sticking out. Then cut out the outline. Older preschoolers could try to do the cutting themselves. Staple the thumbs together so that the hands match up to create praying hands.
