• 1. Clarification: I will get a better understanding of the person and what happened

• 2. Change: I hope to get improvement from it

• 3. Relationship: I will likely deepen my relationship with that person

The goals of healthy confrontation

1 Cor 5:1-13

• 1. Purity: A word gets out, the organisation will be purified.

• 2. Respect: The organisation will likely raise the members level of respect for the leadership.

• 3. Security: People feel safe knowing leaders are strong enough to take a stand.

Follow –up and confrontation

Follow up has to take place after confrontation and when it is done well, the

follow-up can be especially warm and personal.

• 1. Check your motive. Your goal should be to help, not humiliate.

• 2. Make sure the issue is worthy of criticism. Does it really matter?

• 3. Be specific. Don’t drop hints, but clearly name the problem.
