A Voyage in Faith and Learning Dear St. Paul Families, Awesome job this morning! Many thanks to all of you for a very smooth drop-‐off. I appreciate your help and patience. The students were fabulous at this morning’s rehearsal. It should be a great night. We are all looking forward to sharing the spirit of Christmas with each of you and your families. When you arrive tonight, please take your child’s jacket with you. Staff members will be at the entrance to the Shedd on Broadway Street waiting to escort students to their specific locations. A gentle reminder that band students will begin performing at 6:15. Please be respectful of their performance and keep voice levels to a minimum. Thank you! The parking lots behind the Shedd, including the City of Eugene Permit Parking Lot, will be available for free parking after 6:00. The lot across the street from the Shedd on Broadway Street is a Diamond Parking Lot and charges 24 hours a day. You are welcome to use it, but please remember you will be ticketed if you don’t pay. At the conclusion of the preschool, pre-‐kindergarten, and kindergarten performance, parents of children in these classes will be invited up to the stage area to receive their child. After their performance, the Middle School Choir will share a medley of holiday music. Once finished, they will be guided to seating upstairs. The night will conclude with “Camel Lot” presented by the students in first through fifth grades. Once the play has concluded, parents will again be invited up to the stage to pick-‐up students from these

grade levels. Again, many thanks for your support of the Performing Arts at St. Paul! As mentioned in a previous edition of the Voyager, Mrs. Menezes is stepping down from her position as an Instructional Assistant in our Preschool Program. She has served at St. Paul since September of 2005 and we are very grateful for the work she has done in the ministry of Catholic education at our school. This week we celebrated and thanked her for her work. The students and staff presented her with gifts that I know she greatly appreciated. We look forward to keeping Mrs. Menezes on as a substitute for us and wish her all the best in this transition. During the past couple of weeks, Ms. Collins and I have been working on the plan to fill this position. I’m happy to announce that Mrs. Ashley Backlund will be a long-‐term temporary sub beginning January 6 and running through the end of the year. Mrs. Backlund holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Development. She has spent over twelve years teaching, with the majority of the time spent in first grade. She has also served as an Essential Skills Coordinator and holds endorsements in Reading and English Language Arts. Mrs. Backlund is the parent of Max in our first-‐grade class and Tatum in preschool. She is very excited to step in and help us. Please join me in welcoming her to our school in this role. As we close out 2019, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I feel very fortunate to be part of the St. Paul community and support your children in their spiritual, intellectual, and social growth. T hey are truly beautiful gifts from God. May you all have a joyous and peaceful Christmas Season and I look forward to everyone’s return on January 6. Blessings to you all! In Christ’s Peace, Kelli Braud

The Archdiocese of Portland is changing their FACTS submission date deadline to January 31, 2020. Christmas Spirit Wear Friday! December 20th This Friday, students and staff may show their Christmas spirit by bringing in one food item for Can-‐A-‐Week on Fridays in order to wear a festive Christmas shirt, sweater, or hat. All food donations will go to the pantries of St. Paul Church, SVDP, or CCS. Hot Lunch Accounts Did you know you can log on to your TeacherEase account and check your child’s lunch balance? (Please be sure to check each child’s amount, as the system does not tabulate a total per family.) You can then drop off a check (or cash) to the front office to make his/her account current. Each lunch is $3.50 for PS-‐5th grade, and $4.00 6-‐8th grade. Hot lunches include milk, but milk can be purchased separately for $.50. Also, there is a TeacherEase app available for iPhones where you can check fees and other info. You can adjust the settings in the app to send you notifications as well.

This year, as we focus on the Fruit of the Spirit, we are also going to help St. Paul students work on their
GOOD MANNERS. Each month, we will work on a different area of manners that connects with the monthly
