    PRACTICAL CHESS

    Part I: Annotated Chess Games

A serious plan of improvement should include the study of analyzed games. What

games you study and how they are analyzed make a big difference.

In 144 annotated games, 12 games per month for one year, we teach Practical

Strategy from opening to endgame . You will learn in a most enjoyable way. We give only

the necessary variations, but we offer extensive explanations from a strategic viewpoint.

    Monthly chess games plan

Our course is divided in 12 months of study, or into 12 modules. Every month you re ceive

    12 annotated games.

Month 1: players rated 1600 against players rated 1800

Months 2 and 3: players rated 1800 against players rated 2000

Months 4 and 5: players rated 2000 against players rated 2200

Months 6 and 7: players rated 2200 against players rated 2400

Month 8: players rated 2400 against players rated 2600

Month 9: how top grandmasters (>2750) win against 2600-level grandmasters

Month 10-12: the evolution of elite grandmasters from the beginning of their career up

    to the top:

    1. Sergei Karjakin,

    2. Magnus Carlsen, and

    3. Levon Aronian.

You will learn how these top-players improved their chess to what they are today.

Chess is played and understood differently at every level . Progressing through the

levels lets you learn graduallyand progress from simple strategies to very subtle plans and

ideas. Because the level of the players is also different, you can learn from the differences in

how they approach a position, how they succeed (or fail) to apply their knowledge, the

common mistakes of every level, and how a weaker player should confront the stronger

player. The game annotations will give you lots of practical advice so that you experience the

game and the post-game analysis. You will effectively gain PLAYING EXPERIENCE.

    Annotated games or Lessons? Both!

There are no short games, only real fights, instructive in all phases of the game. Every

game is analyzed comprehensively in 8-10 pages at all the important moments, often move

by move. Most of the analyses constitute chess lessons on their ownand we explain

strategy from the ope ning to the e ndgame.

    Practical chess advices

In these games, we identify hundreds of typical situations - situations you are very likely to

meet in your own games. We offer special comments on these moments, so you will be able

to make the best practical decision in your games. You will see that this kind of situations

including psychological issues can be a very important part of the game of chess. Practice

was formerly the only method to help you gain experience, but with our Practice Chess

Course, you can gain experience without losing important points.

Studying these long games will also greatly increase your endurance, and this is a decisive

    factor between relatively equal players.

    Positional Exercises

Every annotated game has diagrams at key moments in the game. These are well chosen

moments where you should try to solve the position by yourself. Evaluate the positional

factors, discover the plans for both sides and think what your move would be. These

diagrams are all excellent positional exercises! In total, there are more than 600

positional exercises for you to solve. Once you find a move yourself, compare our solution

    and analysis with yours.
