ABOUT THE COURSE Changes occur rapidly in the fields of HIV and Hepatology. This course is designed to provide practitioners with the most up-to-date clinical information on a variety of topics to assist in their care of patients living with HIV and/or Hepatitis C. Presentation formats include didactic sessions and interactive case presentations, followed by subsequent question and answer periods.

COURSE OBJECTIVESAfter attending the course, participants should be able to: • Discuss the current standards of care for initial and preferred therapy for HIV infection.

• Review approved HCV therapies for patients with chronic and acute hepatitis C infections.

• Describe antiretroviral treatment considerations for patients over 50 with HIV.

• Identify pharmacologic strategies for treatment of pain in persons with HIV/AIDS.

• List available health literacy assessments and decide which one to use as a next step in improving personal and organizational health literacy.

• Review strategies to normalize the offer of an HIV test in clinical practice to increase acceptance rates.

• Discuss the epidemiology of opioid overdose and the role and safety of prescribing and distributing naloxone in the community.

• Apply presented strategies for treatment to case presentations.

TARGET AUDIENCEThe symposium will be of interest to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pharmacists, social workers, mental health practitioners, and case managers who care for those infected with HIV and Hepatitis C.

Tuition includes the conference registration, continental breakfast, breaks and lunch and available course material.

Refunds are possible if cancellation of registration is received in writing by June 1. After June 1, refunds are not possible, but a substitute may be sent in your place. Refunds are processed only when a written request is received by the Office of CME.

The course may fill prior to the early registration deadline. Register early to secure a space.
