breadth and length of the new hood . . . and the massive s t rength

impressive, too, are the twin, tubular headlamp housings project

ing directly from the front fenders with no tapering at the rear,

The impressive feel ing of digni ty and s t rength emphasized by

Cadillac stylists for 1962 is immediately apparent in the new

rear deck wi th i t s broad, more level top surface dropping in

crisply angled contours to the deck s i l l . An appearance of

increased width imparted by the new horizontal cove molding

of solid extru ded alu m inu m is further en ha nc ed by bold, vert ica l

wide-set tai l l ights in massive chromed housings . The rear quarter

fins for 1962, with their lower, more horizontal l ines, complement

the basic digni ty and s leek custom design which int roduces the

1962 Cadi l lac as indeed the masterwork of the motoring age.

New parking lamps or (optional at extra cost) fog lamps have a

new rectangular design in keeping with rectangular gri l le motif.

Directional signal indicator l ights have larger housings to

complement the broad hood and more massive radiator gri l le .

New cornering l ights , below, in s ide extensions of headlamp

housings, are a Cadi l lac f i rs t on American motor cars . Operated

by the directional signal lever, they cast a 50-candle-power beam

of l ight wh ich i l luminates the ro ad sid e and roa d signs for

increased visibil i ty and greater safety when making turns during

night t ime driving.
